DIY Father’s Day Keychain Idea. Everyone is always looking for something unique to gift to their Dad for Father’s Day. But some of us want to get creative. After all it’s the thought that counts right?!
Head to your local hardware store and pick up these few items and you can make a very cute, thoughtful, DIY gift to gift this year. Our DIY Father’s Day Keychain Idea is perfect for all Dads. They all carry around some sort of key, whether that is a car key, house key or even a key for work purposes.
This DIY Keychain Man is perfect for people who are new to crafting, it doesn’t require any drying time, no heat tools and very little time.
What you will need;
- Key Ring
- Link
- 1x Screw
- 1x Washer
- 3x Bolts
- 2x Wingnuts
- Vice
- Drill
- Drill Piece
- Lock tight is optional.
Method;
Take your long screw point side facing down on a flat surface, the top part of the screw will be the Keychain Man’s hat. Trust the process haha!
Place the washer through the screw and push it all the way to the top. It will be the brim of the man’s hat!
Using one of the Hex bolts swivel it around until it reaches the hat part of the keychain. This will make the Man’s Face. You want it to sit tight flush up against the washer.
Next using a Wingnut, with the wings pointing up tighten it to about halfway up the screw to make his arms.
You will need another Hex bolt for this part. Thread it up to sit flush next to the wingnut. Add another Hex Bolt and sit that snug alongside the other one, making the body of the man.
Lastly place the last wingnut the opposite direction to the other one and screw it onto the bottom, making his little legs!
This part you will need to place the little man into a vice, leaving one of his hands exposed. Using a small drill part carefully drill a hole through his hand, this will create a space for the link to go. This allows you to add your key chain.
Now this will stay like this, but it is optional to add specs of Loctite glue to the thread of the screw before you place the other parts over the top, let it dry and it will never come a part!
You could also, if you have a hand engraver you could even draw a face on or add some initials to his other hand.
Happy gifting this for Father’s Day.
Until the next craft,
