Making Your DIY Halloween Doormat
Start by deciding what you want to put on your DIY Doormat. We went with an outline of ghosts.
I found the picture on Canva, saved it as an SVG and cut it out on my Cricut Joy. I used permanent vinyl for this. Now you don’t need a Cricut Joy to do this as you could get stencils from a local craft store. Or cut your own out of card.
Place the stencils out on your Coir Doormat in an arrangement that your happy with. I chose the random approach!
Using a stencil brush dip it into your acrylic paint and dab it into the fibers of the coir mat. You will use more paint than your think as the coir is actually really absorbent.
Remove your stencils from the mat. And tidy up your edges and you will find that some of them may be off.
Leave to dry in the sun for about 2 hours, before going in with a second coat. You will definitely need two coats as the coir changes the colour of the paint.
After the second coat i let the mat dry over night before i went in and added some eyeballs!
Such a cute easy and inexpensive DIY Halloween Doormat!
